This year’s Annual Dinner, held at the House of Commons on the 19th January, was sponsored by the Society’s good friend Bob Neill, MP, who guaranteed that we would not attempt to steal the spoons or overthrow the government. Like Sir Sydney Chapman before him, Mr Neill was also our Guest of Honour.
The second speaker was our Honorary Treasurer, Ashley Mayo, who was surprised to find that he too had achieved a double honour, when he was presented with the Tony Howlett Award for outstanding service to the Society.
Among the many distinguished members and guests from around the world, we were especially pleased to welcome the head of the Baker Street Irregulars, “Wiggins” – otherwise Michael Whelan – and his wife Mary Ann Bradley.
