2006 saw the Society make a second expedition to the Peak District.  Many years had passed since “A Ramble through the Ragged Shaw” was published in 1986 to accompany the previous trip. At that time we concentrated upon the eastern moors close to Chesterfield and it is appropriate for our scholarship that other locations are now presented by Jonathan McCafferty as worthy for serious consideration. But each contender must fill this Dark Square (which) is the Priory School.

Dr Watson’s usual inexact geography gives rise to many possible locations for examination, and no claim is made that this is the last word on the subject.  Alongside well known Stately Homes  we will search for the Duke of Holdernesse in the unlikely setting of a youth hostel.

Overseas members of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London have always needed to pay higher subscription rates than UK based members to cover the extra cost of postage and packaging for mailing the Sherlock Holmes Journal outside the UK. The Society is now changing the way it presents its membership prices so that the subscription is the same for UK and non-UK members, but the additional postage and packaging that are associated with overseas membership is now added on as a separate postage cost.

If you are looking to buy membership as a gift or multiple memberships, or if you experience difficulty with applying online, please contact the Membership Secretary: membership@sherlock-holmes.org.uk.
