Considering Sherlock Holmes’s (and the Society’s) close ties with Switzerland, it is perhaps surprising that this was the first specialist publication that had been produced.
Twenty four separate articles from nineteen different authors, some new to Society publications, but many well tried and tested favourites.
Conan Doyle’s visits to the country are documented; the rise in popularity of Switzerland to the British is explored; and the railway network, and in particular Holmes’s route to Switzerland, is examined in close detail.
There is also a photographic scrapbook of previously unpublished photographs from many of the pilgrimages made to Switzerland in the past.
