Dartmoor for obvious reasons has been an area for Society exploration several times, indeed Shirley edited the last handbook for the last trip ten years before.

There is some great stuff here, pre-eminently a new topographical piece by Bernard Davies. It would be ludicrous even to try and describe the means by which he has achieved his entirely new identification of Baskerville Hall – we have 19 pages of detailed, painstaking, logical work, based on a quarter of a century of research.

There are many other gems. Derek Hinrich’s piece on the gun Holmes used to shoot the Hound. Guy Marriott’s formidable work on how Stapleton might actually have been intending to prove himself heir to the Baskerville estate and Auberon Redfearn with a serious piece about how Holmes spent his time on the moor.

Overseas members of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London have always needed to pay higher subscription rates than UK based members to cover the extra cost of postage and packaging for mailing the Sherlock Holmes Journal outside the UK. The Society is now changing the way it presents its membership prices so that the subscription is the same for UK and non-UK members, but the additional postage and packaging that are associated with overseas membership is now added on as a separate postage cost.

If you are looking to buy membership as a gift or multiple memberships, or if you experience difficulty with applying online, please contact the Membership Secretary: membership@sherlock-holmes.org.uk.
