This category may be suitable for those individuals who live so far away that it would be impracticable for them to attend any of the Society’s meetings. The minimum age for Associate membership is 18. Associate members receive the Sherlock Holmes Journal. The Journal is a hard copy document which will be posted to you. Associate members are not sent the periodical notices of meetings and do not have the right to attend a meeting except as a guest of a full member. Subscription reminders will be sent to you by e mail.

The society now operates a “365 membership” arrangement so that your membership runs for a full year from the date you join until you need to renew your subscription. (For example, if you join on 1 July, your renewal subscription will become due on 1 July the following year).

The Society also produces an informal newsletter, The District Messenger, available on the Society’s website. We can send you a reminder by e mail when a new edition is produced.

In order that we can make contact by post and e mail, a member must consent to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation, for The Sherlock Holmes Society of London (SHSL) to retain and use their name and address data. We would also like to have a telephone number, where possible, in case we should ever need to contact you urgently. When you apply for membership you are giving the SHSL your explicit consent (“opt in”) to hold this data. You can revoke this permission at any time in the future by giving us notice and information stored will be irrevocably deleted on non-renewal of membership. Data provided by the member will only be used for SHSL purposes and will not be passed to any Third Parties. Payments are handled by PayPal and therefore The SHSL will not require or store any payment details.
