“Oh! I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside!”

From the 20th to the 22nd September, the Society’s annual excursion was based at the gloriously Victorian Pegwell Bay Hotel, just outside Ramsgate on the beautiful Isle of Thanet (which hasn’t actually been an island since the Middle Ages).

Marcus Geisser and Bob & Judi Ellis had organised a programme of scholarship and sightseeing – which included visits to Whitstable, long-time home of Peter Cushing, and Quex Park, which houses the extraordinary Powell-Cotton Museum.

The lovely weather matched the excellent hospitality at the hotel, and as always it was a delight to spend time with Holmesian friends.

You’ll find some rather nice photographs of the weekend’s events in the Society’s online Gallery at https://www.flickr.com/photos/shsl/albums/with/72157711112890316

If you have photos of the Kent Weekend (or any other of the Society’s activities) that you’d be happy to share, please contact Roger Johnson at shjournal@btinternet.com. Thank you!
