Getting to and from Undershaw on the 26th May
An important message for those going to the Stepping Stones events at Undershaw on the 26th May
You will probably have seen that South Western Trains have now released details of engineering works in May and there will not be direct trains to Haslemere from Waterloo on Saturday 26th May. There will be a replacement bus service from Guildford, which takes about 40 minutes.
In view of this, Stepping Stones School have very kindly said that they will pick up and return people to Guildford, not Haslemere as originally planned, which should take their bus about 20 minutes.
The school cannot run a bespoke “taxi” service. So:
You do need to book this transport through me, as some people already have, by 18th May.
We need to co-ordinate and suggest that those who would like transport aim to arrive at Guildford Station by 10.10 – The 9.15 from Waterloo (gets to Guildford at 9.51) would be a good train to catch, or the 9.30 (getting in at 10.07) would also work well.
The school will definitely take people back to Guildford after the play. The production lasts 1¾ hours including a 20 minute interval so we could reasonably hope to leave Undershaw around 20.30. That should get you back to Waterloo by around 10pm.
We do suggest that you buy a return ticket to Haslemere – in case the timings go awry or to allow you to come down and leave at different times; it would give everyone maximum flexibility.
Once we know numbers, we will see if the school can also transport people not staying for the play back to Guildford.
If you have already booked transport, I will assume you will be at Guildford Station for pick up. Any queries or changes of plan, or if you now want to book transport, please let me know.
Apologies for the extra complications, but sadly we have no control over South Western Trains!
