The Silver Blaze Wessex Cup
July 6, 2011
Kempton Park Racecourse
6th July 2011
The Sherlock Holmes Society of London is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring the Silver Blaze Wessex Cup at Kempton Park on Wednesday 6th July (evening meeting).
The inaugural race in 2010 was a sell out success with over 60 Members and their guests watching the race from the
comfort of the Kempton Park Royal Box. The race provided the best finish of the day with three horses in close contention.
The Cup was won by Kylladdie at odds of 7/2. Our guest of honour—Sir Peter O’Sullevan—had tipped Kylladdie
and many of us went home happy.
This year The Wessex Cup will be run at an evening meeting at Kempton Park on 6th July.
The first race of the evening will be at 6:20 and the last race at 9:20. We have again been granted use of the Royal Box. The Royal Box has its own private entrance and direct access to the betting ring and finishing post lawn areas.
A 3 course fork buffet will be available which will allow greater flexibility for those wishing to watch the runners in the parade ring; make a quick visit to the bookies; or watch the races from down on the course.
Representatives of the Society will present the Wessex Cup to the winning owner. We will also select the ‘best turned out’ horse in the parade ring before the race.
The total package includes –
- Hire of the Royal Box
- Admission Badges and Tickets
- Private Bar Facility (Cash bar)
- 3 Course Buffet Menu
- Coffee/Tea after dinner
- Tote Betting Facilities
- Car Parking
- Race Cards
and will cost £85 per person.
Places in the Royal Box can be reserved now by contacting Bob Ellis at either email@example.com or 13 Crofton Avenue, Orpington, Kent BR6 8DU. Please indicate whether a car park pass is required and whether you would prefer a vegetarian alternative for the meal.
Full payment must be received by 10 June.
The racecourse boasts its own on site railway station – Kempton Park – which is situated 200 yards from the Premier Enclosure entrance. Trains will run every half an hour from Waterloo with the journey time being just 40 minutes. By road the race course is located on the A308 between Sunbury on Thames and Hampton Court – less than one mile from
Junction 1 of the M3 via Junction 12 of the M25. For Internet searches/sat nav the postcode is TW16 5AQ. There is also reasonably priced accommodation (Travelodge and Premier Inn) within walking distance of the course.
At the conclusion of the race meeting Peter Andre will be performing live. If you are interested you are welcome to stay and watch the concert from the Royal Box. The bar will remain open.
