In 1907 Sir Arthur Conan Doyle remarried and moved from Hindhead to Crowborough in East Sussex. His house, Windlesham, was to be his home for the rest of his life, and there can be little doubt that he remains the most famous resident of the attractive little town. Several years ago, when Crowborough staged a couple of Sherlock Holmes Festivals, it was suggested that the town should be celebrating the creator rather than the created. The situation will be rectified…
