Society visit to Lord’s
March 29 @ 2:30 pm - 4:15 pm
The cricketing highlight of this summer is, of course, the visit to our shores of the Australian cricket team to continue the friendly rivalry for The Ashes and The Second Test Match of the series will be played at Lord’s Cricket Ground in August. The Society also has its own version of friendly rivalry with an annual fixture against The Gold Bats of The P G Wodehouse Society which is played each June.
Conan Doyle was, indeed, an enthusiastic cricketer of some distinction, once claiming the wicket of a certain Dr W G Grace and one of Doyle’s bats is on display in The Museum at Lord’s.
Tours of the ground are limited to groups of 30 and preference will be given to members of our Society Cricket team and prospective players and then to members by ballot. The tour takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes and we will tour The Long Room, the players’ Dressing Rooms, the Stands and Media Centre and, of course, The Museum.
There is no charge for this tour but would you kindly contact me by post or by email if you wish to join us for this event by Friday March 15th and kindly confirm that you are a Society cricketer or prospective cricketer or a cricket enthusiast.
