A Croquet Match and a Celebration with the Poor Folk
June 25 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
Our good friends The Poor Folk Upon the Moors – the Sherlock Holmes Society of South-West England – will hold their annual The annual Henry Drew Memorial Croquet Match and Sunday breakfast on the 25th June.
A sumptuous (and fortifying) English breakfast will be served at the atmospherically named Twisted Oak, a traditional pub in the village of Ide, just off the A30, less than two miles from Exeter city centre. The Croquet Match will take place as usual at the charming Pinces Gardens in Exeter.
The leisurely – but sporting! – afternoon will, of course, include a classic Devon cream tea.
And this year there is a special cause for celebration, as the day chosen for the match is a notable one for the President of the Poor Folk. His many friends and admirers, whether or not they can make the journey to Glorious Devon, will certainly wish to raise a bumper to Vosper Arthur on his 99th birthday!
